We're coming up on race season and I've been looking forward to these travels ever since the January-March race season ended. Of course, that's not to say I DID very much during this lull, but I'm ready to get back into it!
Today, I was scheduled to do 5 miles, but since I did 7 on Monday, I thought I'd aim for a 10K instead. Just to see. I ended up with 6.73 miles. (And there's a HUGE part of me that is planning on getting back on the treadmill for 0.27 more miles just to even it up.)
So, here's how today looked. A lot of stopping and starting due to my concerns with the treadmill and it's personality disorder. (It tends to just stop in the middle of a program and kick you out. Very odd.)
The first 5K (the Epcot map) I decided to really "try". I walked 0.2 miles and ran 0.1 mile the whole way. For some reason, walk/run based on distance made more sense to me today instead of time. I have no clue why. But, anyway... 15:14 a mile! Not too bad. And, quite honestly, the first two miles were much better than the third, so that brought my average down. I was pleased with that. The second "race" was at about 18 min/mile, and then I just played around for a bit. 0.4 miles at 15:00 a mile, then barely walking to cool down for that last half mile. Overall, not too bad - including the walking (but not the last 1/2 mile crawl) about 17 minutes average. If I was really trying, I'd be back in the 15-16 minute range. I feel pretty good about that with the Tower of Terror race coming up in about 54 days!
Yay!!
