Spring?

I got in my car today to go grab a sandwich for lunch, but it was so beautiful outside that my car drove itself to a local park.  I had clothes in the back seat (unfortunately, they were warmer clothes for winter, not a 75 degree January day but I made them work) and I changed in the car.

I took a few minutes trying to get my Garmin set up again.  I had tried to make it recognize my footpod the other day and it was a disaster:

This was my attempt at calibrating my Garmin on my treadmill.  Obviously my treadmill doesn't wander around the house.  It was also set to calibrate at a half mile.  It did register 8 minutes (which would have been right-ish) but that half mile only registered as 0.16 mi.  Really??  Hmm.  I'll try again later.

But, when I got to the park, I had to UNDO the foot pod thing.  And then turn off the virtual partner that decided to turn itself on, so my first bit of walking was done with my nose squarely in my Garmin.  I could have done a bit better had I been able to READY, SET, GO!

Now, I'd be lying if I said this didn't worry me for next weekend.  They changed the course of the Half Marathon and the cushion I was counting on when the full course deviated from the half course has been removed.  So, I need to find a way to not get swept.  This two miles was slow and I was tired.  It doesn't bode well for Louisiana.  But, I might as well try.  If I get swept, I'll be devastated, but it'll be OK.  I can think of worse things.
